Getting started

Extract the entire ZIP folder, then open Eureka.exe on Windows or Eureka.app on Mac. Start with the Tutorial if you are new. A complete 30-card starter deck is provided.

Choose from 23 languages under Menu → Settings → Display language.

The basics of debate

Win by reducing your opponent’s Logic to 0. Both players start with 20 Logic.

  1. Once each turn, choose either Contemplation to develop Thought or Reading to draw a card.
  2. Select a philosopher from your hand and place them in an empty seat on your side. There are four seats, and you can normally introduce up to two philosophers per turn.
  3. Select an available philosopher, then an opposing card to persuade it. Use the ability buttons to choose another move. Newly introduced philosophers normally become available on your next turn.
  4. Pay the required colors of Thought to reduce your target’s Logic by your Persuasion. Damage exceeding a card’s remaining Logic reaches the opposing player. If their field is empty, target the player directly.
  5. Choose End Turn when you have finished. Your Thought refills and your philosophers become available again on your next turn.

Once per turn, Rhetoric costs 3 Thought and reduces the opposing player’s Logic by 1. You cannot draw from an empty deck, but an empty deck causes no damage.

Cards and deck building

A philosopher card shows Logic on the left and Persuasion on the right. The circles on an ability show the required colors and amounts of Thought.

Play Thought, Era, and Event cards from your hand. Special-effect conditions vary by card. Open Details, for example with a right click, and read the effect text and Detailed Rules. Try effects you do not own in the Special Effects Laboratory.

Browse cards in the Library and build a 30-card deck from your collection in Deck Building. Include up to four copies of a card. Different rarities of the same philosopher count as different cards. Use Knowledge earned in debates to open Packs.

Journey of Thought and free debate

Journey of Thought has 60 chapters, each beginning with a philosopher’s dialogue. Choose your responses, then proceed from the final question into a debate. Victory unlocks the next chapter. Complete all six chapters in a part to receive a special card.

In Free Debate, use your current deck to debate against AI.

Online debate

Connect to the internet and open Online to create a room or join a public room. Quick Match also finds opponents. Windows and Mac players can play together. Both players should use the same latest version.

You do not need an Epic account. Spectators cannot see private information such as players’ hands.

Settings and saves

Progress is saved automatically on this device. Saves are stored separately and remain when you replace the game folder. Use data export and import in Settings to transfer progress to another device.

Press F11 to toggle full screen. Adjust volume and controller options in Settings. If performance is slow, enable Lightweight / Simple Mode.

Launch and connection troubleshooting

Windows: If a DLL is missing, make sure you extracted the entire ZIP. For missing MSVCP140.dll or VCRUNTIME140.dll files, install the official Microsoft Visual C++ v14 (x64) runtime and launch the game again.

Mac: Confirm you are using the official release. If the first launch is blocked, right-click Eureka.app in Finder and choose Open. An online keychain prompt uses your Mac login keychain password, rather than an Epic password.
